The qualities we want in people are those with a positive attitude, interested in farming/food, and hard-working. The regular work schedule runs from 7 am – 5 pm, with a 30 minute morning break/aka second breakfast, and a 1 1/4 lunch break. The minimum stay we are asking for is two weeks.

Volunteers live and eat with us in the beautiful family farm house. We take pride in eating a wide variety of homemade foods that everyone takes turns in preparing. Vegetarians always welcome.

Spring work involves a lot of greenhouse preparation, seeding, transplanting and maintenance. We are also doing construction work on our new processing building. Experienced builders or keen learners are encouraged to join us. Like many other diverse farms, the day’s work is constantly changing and therefore never boring.

Summer work involves crop maintenance like weeding, hoeing, trellising and pruning, harvesting a wide variety of vegetables and herbs, lawn mowing.

Fall work involves harvesting the rest of our crops, winterizing the farm, planting garlic, mulching perennials, some construction work.

The farm is located in Maitland on the beautiful Bay of Fundy, 30 min west of Truro and 1 hr north of Halifax. Spare time activities include mudsliding, swimming, biking (bikes available), hiking, an extensive farm library to read from, campfires, playing music, yoga and socializing.

Pick up is easily arranged from Truro or Halifax.

German and some French is spoken at the farm, but English is the way we communicate.
